The Agusta A109C is a substantially upgraded version of the popular A109A executive helicopter. Among the changes are an improved transmission system, a higher gross weight and stronger undercarriage and a composite main rotor. The cabin, which is fitted with five or six seats, also has more space, thanks to modified doors and contoured windows.
The Agusta A109C costs between $0.60m for a 1989 model and $0.92m for a 1996 model, according to Aircraft Bluebook’s Autumn 2022 data. These prices represent the average retail for each model year. Individual Agusta A109C helicopter models’ values may vary significantly from the average retail price for its model year, however, depending on several factors. This might include its maintenance condition, time on the airframe and engines before the next overhaul is due, and much more.
Competing with the Agusta A109C, there are numerous other options in the twin-engine light turbine helicopter market, one of which is the MD 900 Explorer, which can transport 6-7 passengers (usually four in executive configuration) with 1-2 crew members.
The Agusta A109C introduced a range of improvements to the popular aircraft line, but among the most significant was additional space for the cabin occupants which was achieved through the introduction of modified doors and other upgrades.
Following on from the Agusta A109C was the A109E Power, launched in 1993 and available to operators in 1996 (the year the A109C ceased production). The A109E was a more powerful aircraft, utilizing either Turbomeca Arrius 2K1 or Pratt & Whitney Canada PW206C engines. A larger version of the aircraft – the A109E Power Elite – was subsequently brought to market.
