The Bombardier Global 6500 Large Jet was certified and started deliveries in 2019, marking the latest entrant to the ultra-long-range market for the Canadian OEM. The aircraft is a longer-range variant of the successful Global 6000 aircraft, providing a range of 6,600nm (with eight passengers).
Equipped with the purpose-built Rolls Royce Pearl engines and a redesigned wing, Bombardier’s Global 6500 offers 6,600 nautical miles non-stop range, can travel at up to 0.90 Mach, and connects Hong Kong, Beijing or Shanghai to major destinations such as London, Milan or San Francisco.
The Bombardier Global 6500 costs between $56m 2022 model and $43m 2019 model, according to Aircraft Bluebook’s Autumn 2022 data. The aircraft is still very new on the market, and has only been delivering since 2019, meaning that any pre-owned jets on the market will be very new models.
This part of the ultra-long-range with large cabin market features a range of options that compete with the Global 6500, including Dassault’s Falcon 8X and Gulfstream’s G600. The Falcon 8X has a range of 6,450nm carrying eight passengers, while the G600’s range stands at 6,600nm.
The Global 6500 aircraft’s redesigned cabin offers a range of exclusive features for customers, while it also features the ‘Nuage’ chaise, a seating innovation that adds new dimensions to the conference suite (according to Bombardier), providing a convertible lounge chair that can transform into a sleeping surface or be used for ‘banquet’ style dining at a table.
The Global 5500 is similar to the Global 6500, with a shorter fuselage length. The Global 5500 can hold up to 16 passengers as opposed to 19 in the Global 6500, and its range is 700nm less at 5,900nm.
