The Bombardier Challenger 605 Large Jet was launched by Bombardier as an upgrade to the successful Challenger 604 model, marking a new foray for the company within the category.
Ultimately offering an avionics and structural upgrade on the CL604 design, the large cabin Bombardier Challenger 605 retains the GE CF34-3B powerplants and 4,000nm range, but includes larger cabin windows, while the updated cockpit features ProLine 21 avionics and electronic flight bag capability.
The Bombardier Challenger 605 costs between $12m for a 2007 model and $16m for a 2015 model, according to Aircraft Bluebook’s Autumn 2022 data. and a range of other factors. However, sale prices can vary – even for aircraft built in the same year – depending on maintenance condition, comparable aircraft on the market and a range of other factors.
The Dassault Falcon 2000LX has been cited as a competitor with the Challenger 605, and was launched in the same year. Both aircraft have performed well in the used jet market over the years. The Dassault Falcon 2000LX can also hold 10 passengers.
The Challenger 605 has competitive operating costs and can cover an excellent distance. It hits a sweet-spot in the market with its spacious cabin, low operating costs and strong reliability.
The Challenger 650 replaced the Challenger 605 on the production line, and offers a new cabin design featuring larger seats, improvements to the galley, and the Bombardier Vision flight deck which boasts Synthetic Vision System (SVS), MultiScan weather radar systems and a number of other features. Its Collins Aerospace Pro Line 21 Advanced avionics suite has four large displays, a Dual Inertial Reference System, and a dual flight management system with LPV and RNP approach capabilities.

The Challenger 605 – launched in 2006 – continued the series with a number of improvements aimed at boosting passenger comfort and cockpit sophistication. Like its predecessor, it is typically configured for 10 passengers, but can hold up to 12, and its range is about 4,000nm.
